Winners of the "National Children’s Book Illustration" award were announced in the Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition, where the field of work for awards was expanded last year. ‘The Voice Inside My Mom’ by Deniz Üçbaşaran won the award.
The jury of the Aydın Doğan National Children's Book Illustration Award, consisting of important artists and academics Ercan Akyol, Ilgım Veryeri Alaca, Mustafa Delioğlu, Can Göknil, Tan Oral, Emre Senan, Umut Südüak, and Başak Ürkmez, awarded Deniz Üçbaşaran, who illustrated the book 'The Voice Inside My Mom', among the children's books published by national publishing houses in the past two years. ’The Voice Inside My Mom’ won the Aydın Doğan National Children's Book Illustration Award for being a work in which the relationship between theme and visual is strong, its original visual language, rich color palette, harmonious use of different colors on consecutive pages, and for being a high-quality example of children's book illustration.
Also, specifically for this year, the Aydın Doğan National Children’s Book Illustration Selection Committee has decided to award nine Success Awards.
Success Awards were received by: ’Foundation and Wind’ by Reha Barış, ’Can and the Devil’ by Mert Tugen, ’Mr Fi’s Clarinet, Whose Arms are at his Feet’ by Buket Topakoğlu, ’Difficult Fish’ by Uğur Altun, ’By Dad’s Blanket’ by Ayşe İnan, ’One Line’ by Çağrı Odabaşı, ’When Autumn Comes’ by Sena Yıldız, ’Book Ant’ by Gökçe İrten, ’Secret Life of my Teacher’ by Ayşe Deniz Şahin.
By adding new fields of focus to our work, we aim to increase our support in the field of art and creativity, to create opportunities for the development of these new fields with the cooperation of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, to provide interaction between experienced jury members and award winners, and to contribute to the production of children's books and comics at the national level.
