26th Aydın Doğan Award to be presented to the ceramic artist Alev Ebüzziya

It was decided to grant this year’s Aydın Doğan Award which has been presented annually by the Aydın Doğan Foundation since 1996 to recognize individuals and institutions praised in different fields such as culture, arts, literature, and science on national and international platforms, to the esteemed ceramic artist Alev Ebüzziya who has been creating works in the field of “Ceramic Art” for 60 years.

In the statement of Aydın Doğan Foundation, it was noted that 'the artist Alev Ebüzziya was chosen as the award winner since she inspires the artists both in Turkey and across the world with her works which bear the traces of Turkey’s rich history and Anatolian civilizations, carry ritualistic marks in their colors, forms, and motifs and sets a model in the art of ceramics with the inspiration taken from the artist's roots and the unique, actual and timeless expression developed by her, and with her production that continues viably for over 60 years.'

In the works of the doyenne artist, she brought a new breath to the bowl form that has existed for thousands of years, with her own style. At present, they are exhibited in the collections of numerous international museums. Aydın Doğan Award will be presented to Alev Ebüzziya who attained major national and international successes with her works and held exhibitions in many corners of the world, especially in Europe with a ceremony to be organized in November in Istanbul.
