Classical Western Music: “Ankara State Conservatory”


The 2002 Aydın Doğan Award was given in Classical Western Music and the “Ankara State Conservatory” was deemed worthy of the award for having achieved utmost success in popularizing western music and performance arts in our country, with unrelenting momentum since its foundation in1936. It was also acknowledged as a fundamental force behind Turkey's achieving the status of a partner of equal rights and conditions within the international arts world, having invested vast efforts into modern Turkish culture and the arts since the foundation of the republic.

The selection committee for 2002’s Aydın Doğan Award included Prof. Filiz Ali, Remzi Buharalı, Rengim Gökmen, Doğan Hızlan, Prof. Ersin Onay and Prof. İlhan Usmanbaş.
